A type of window that hides behind the browser window of a Web site, primarily used in online advertising. Because they are less obviously obtrusive than a pop-up ad, pop-under windows, they tend not to bug users as much. |
A pop-under is also referred to as a pop-under ad.

A relatively new form of online advertising, similar to a pop-up ad. Pop-under ads appear in a new browser window when a user logs onto a Web site that serves the ad, but unlike pop-up ads, pop-under ads appear behind the current browser window so users don’t see them right away. The ad becomes more evident when the user closes the browser window. Pop-under ads are less intrusive that pop-up ads.."
